Portage River Cleanup Event!

The FotSJR wants to share with everyone the information below about the upcoming River Cleanup Event for Portage River.

This event is being sponsored by the St. Joseph County Conservation District (Centreville, MI). The SJCCD will provide equipment (boats, paddles, personal floatation devices), along with some snacks and bottles of water. Everyone that wants to participate in this river cleanup event are being asked to please phone the SJCCD in advance at 269-467-6336, Ext. 5, so that all the appropriate amount of equipment can be brought to the event to accommodate all the volunteers.

Area of Cleanup: The cleanup will take place from North Fisher Lake Road (Put-In point) to Carpenter Road (Take-Out point). The cleanup will cover 4.8 River Miles of the Portage River.

Date and Time of Event; Meeting Point:
The Portage River Cleanup will start at 9:30 AM on Saturday, September 21, 2024. The Meeting Point for this event will be Carpenter Road at the Portage River. SJCCD will help people arrange vehicles to the put-in and take-out locations.
