When the Kankakee was an Edgy Place
This year's keynote will be given by Jon Coleman. Coleman is an environmental historian who teaches at the University of Notre Dame. He has written books about wolves, grizzly bear attacks, and getting lost in the wilderness. His talk will explore the nineteenth-century shadow economy that flourished in the region prior to the channeling of the river and draining of the marshes.
