Going with the Flow...Mimicking Nature to Control Runoff

Join the Two Rivers Coalition and the Van Buren Conservation District for a presentation on rain gardens, low-impact development, wetlands and using nature as a guide for improving water quality.

Participants will learn about the following:

  • Philosophy and fundamentals of Low Impact Development (LID)
  • Learn what soils, soil amendments and plants to use
  • Costs to build and documentation of impacts of improvements
  • A wide ranging web-based resource list
  • Wetland preservation and restoration projects going on in the Black River and Paw Paw River watersheds

Rain barrel kits will be available for purchase from the Van Buren Conservation District. Presentations by:

  • Scott Dierks, PE - Scott manages the Ann Arbor office for Cardno JFNew and leads the company Green Infrastructure Practice Group.
  • Matt Mearsman - Matt is one of the Van Buren Conservation District's Watershed Coordinators working on water quality issues.

Refreshments will be served.
