About Turtles...

They only move forward when they stick their neck out

Environmental regulations and funding sources are under attack. Now is the time to speak up for clean water and our natural world. The St. Joseph River Watershed is one of the most amphibian and reptile rich in our region supporting several of Michigan and Indiana's rarest species. Recognized as important biological indicators, amphibians and reptiles (herpetofauna) are critical in maintaining functional ecosystems. They are also excellent gauges in assessing habitat and water quality restoration success.

This year's keynote speaker will be David Mifsud. "Turtle Dave" is a certified wetland scientist and ecologist who has worked for over 15 years in wildlife biology, wetland ecology and habitat conservation. He is an authority on the conservation and management of turtles and other herpetofauna in our region. We hope his presentation will inspire you to stick your neck out and fight for clean water and healthy ecosystems.
